Years ago, I read an article about a seaside wedding in one of my favorite mags, Coastal Living(CL). The bridal palette featured in the article was black and white and the bridesmaids could choose their own dress to wear. I bookmarked that idea in my brain for whenever my day would come.
Fast forward 5 years and I will be using that same black/white bridesmaid idea featured in CL for my wedding. My bridesmaids can pick their own dress (all black or black/white) in any style or fabric they choose, knee to tee length. I love that they have the chance to find something that suits their body shape. Hopefully, the dress they choose won’t wind up in the purgatory section of their closets. You know, that section in the back of the closet, reserved for those items that are somewhat special but you will most likely never wear again. I guess that is what storage or eBay is for…
Here are few dress styles that I have come across that I love. I’ll post more as I find them.

Maggy London available at Nordstrom.
Vera Wang @ Bluefly. Shown in navy but I love the cut, the ruffle sleeves and ruffle on the bottom.
Elie Tahari, @ Bluefly
a playful Betsey Johnson number

You’ve done your research, Maura!! They are all beautiful… I really like the one-strap wonder. Very “Solid Gold”. Is it OK that the bridesmaid is as excited about the day as the bride?!

I love the first one! anything to try to cover up the twins ;). The model looks very Angelina Jolie-ish…Think I can look like that too??

I have heard from a few of you already (post/emails), and everyone has a different fave, which is why this is an idea worth stealing. I will post more as I find them.
BTW - Julie KS and Robin both like # 2.
If you find your dress, post it here. If you have thoughts about length, fabric etc. post that too so we can all share.

These dresses are gorgeous….I personally like #1. #2 I think would be quite challenging to pull off if you are carrying a few extra pounds. Damn those thin, satiny finishes! I love the idea of picking a dress of your choosing…phew. Thanks! xoxox
