About

Just getting started:

Finally, I found a reason to start a blog of my own. You are probably thinking that I didn’t need one but I am the kind of person, who needs a reason to commit to something. Now that I am planning a wedding, keeping everyone on both coasts in sync about the upcoming nuptials seemed to be the jolt I needed to get my personal blog up and running. And the more I blog, the more I love it. For someone, who is used to writing corporate docs and marketing materials most days, I am still trying to find my personal blogger’s voice. My free voice, as I like to call it. It is slowly coming to me.

What you may find here: wedding info including things to do and places to stay in Vancouver and Vancouver Island, culinary tips or recipes I have tried, gushy tales (i can be pretty sappy) or tales from the trenches (start-up life), products and places I love or think you should stay away from, and anything else that comes to mind. I am usually a pretty organized individual/writer but I think I will let this blog have a life of it’s own.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to share your thoughts with me.

Here’s the skinny on my other life:

Maura Rodgers - Entrepreneur, Culinary/Wine Enthusiast, Party Planner & Mother of 2

Maura originally hails from west of Boston, MA and moved to Vancouver, BC Canada after her first Internet start-up, Spinway sold to Kmart in 2000. Since moving to Canada, Maura has studied wine @ Dubrulle and attended Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on Granville Island while raising her two children, Emma & Jack. Recently, Maura started another Internet company, Strutta with Danny and organizes Launch Party Vancouver (LPV), a local mixer for tech entrepreneurs, bloggers and investors.

I for one, Maura, am so glad I met you (you too Danny)!
You are like a tropical ocean breeze - warm, inviting, playful and yes, sensual! You are quite unlike anyone else I used to know in my former MBA-competitive, consulting life. You have also brought all these beautiful women into my life - Robin, Julie, Karle, Fran - and enriched it further, and for that I am forever in your debt. It was very out of character for me to “pick you up” at the pool the way I did, but seeing 8-month old Emma in her leopard-print swim diapers, I knew you guys were a special family. Thanks for continuing to invite us to your parties (even after what I did to your rose bushes), for showing me how to revel in my birthday month, for gently encouraging me to go where I am not yet comfortable, and for including me in your special day!
I know it will be an affair to remember!
Love, laughter & happiness to the R&R clan always!
XOX, Nancy

@ Nancy. You win the prize for making me teary. You are not allowed to give me any cards on the day. :) I am so happy you will be a part of this celebration. As you know, I have waited a LONG time for this. This will be my biggest event yet and by far, the most special.
